Town Hurricane Seminar discusses new criteria
Besides getting the message out about being ready in case of a tropical event, the Hurricane Season Seminar, hosted by the Town of Fort Myers Beach at Town Hall Wednesday evening, informed about new forecast criteria, simplifying evacuation plans and re-organizing storm classification in judging storm surge threats.

Solar project gets warm reception
The Barnstable Town Council heard all aspects last week of a large proposed solar project for 17 acres on the town’s capped landfill. The solar panel array would provide about 50 percent of the town’s municipal electric supply when combined with the solar/wind project at the Barnstable Water Pollution Control Facility.
