Help Solve Debt Crisis by Raising Excise Taxes
COMMENTARY | Excise taxes have revenue based upon the consumption of goods in the United States. Although not a catch-all to solve the United States’ debt crisis, increasing taxes on goods consumed by Americans will help bring in more revenue. The projected deficit over the next 10 years is near $ 14 trillion and there needs to be deep spending cuts or an increase in revenue to cover the gaps.
