New Online Company PropertyTaxPros Offers Affordable Homeowner Assistance to Lower Property Taxes

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) January 13, 2009

A new website, PropertyTaxPros.com, offers homeowner assistance to Metro-Atlanta homeowners whose property taxes are disproportionate to their homes’ current fair market value.

The site was created when Attorneys Robert J. Proctor, Bradley A. Hutchins and John E. Ramsey noticed the only area in this recession economy on the rise seems to be property taxes in the falling housing market. The trio of attorneys — experienced professionals who have more than half-a-century of combined experience representing thousands of taxpayers in property tax appeals — launched PropertyTaxPros™, metro Atlanta’s only tax appeal service managed by property tax lawyers.

PropertyTaxPros™ provides homeowner assistance to those who own and occupy single family residential homes, townhomes and condominiums in Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding and Rockdale counties. The services are offered exclusively online at http://www.propertytaxpros.com allowing the company to charge lower fees than typical law firms and the homeowners to gain instant access to their appeals’ status.

In addition to representing homeowners who have received reassessment notices, PropertyTaxPros™ offers a return and appeal service for homeowners who believe the fair market value of their homes is lower than the current tax assessment. Georgia law allows property owners to file a property tax return and state their opinion of fair market value. The property tax bill is then based on the value returned unless the tax assessors send a notice of reassessment following the filing of the return. If the tax assessors do reassess, the reassessment is appealable. The deadlines for filing property tax returns are March 1 for DeKalb and Gwinnett Counties and April 1 for all other counties in the area served.

Using an extensive data bank of housing indexes, market and assessment data and a proprietary value calculation algorithm, PropertyTaxPros™ determines a reduced tax assessment value. The company then files a property tax return at that value, files an appeal if the return is refused and negotiates the best possible settlement. If no settlement can be reached, the company presents the case to the Board of Equalization.

Customers pay an initial fee of $ 35. If a tax savings is achieved, the customer pays one-third of the first year tax savings.

Robert J. (Bob) Proctor has a three-decade track record of fighting for taxpayers’ rights. In addition to representing thousands of individual taxpayers, Bob has brought many successful class-action lawsuits. Included among these are: voiding Fulton County’s mass tax reassessment, striking down sales taxes on sales of used cars, ending the intangible tax on stocks and bonds, blocking Atlanta’s rain tax and forcing refunds of retroactive tax increases.

Bradley A. (Brad) Hutchins has brought hundreds of successful suits in property tax related cases, including more than 20 appellate cases. He is co-chairman of the State Bar’s Property Tax Committee and a member of the Title Standards Committee. In addition, Brad was recently named one of “The 2008 Legal Elite: Georgia’s Most Effective Lawyers” by Georgia Trend magazine.

In addition to a legal career that began more than 25 years ago, John E. “Buddy” Ramsey presently serves as Chairman of Dominus Holdings, a privately-held investor in property tax-related investments.
