U.S. Expats’ Car Leasing Headache Due to Lack of U.S. Credit Score is Catalyst for New Venture Launched by LionLeasing.com
Boca Raton, FL (PRWEB) January 27, 2011
A group of expats in the US frustrated by their inability to lease a car without an American credit history have set up a vehicle leasing service specifically for newcomers to the country.
Many foreign companies are investing large sums of money in the U.S. in hopes of achieving success; success that will create new jobs and revenue for the U.S.
But their expatriated employees always faces the same headache, the U.S. credit scoring system which is a major obstacle in settling into their new U.S. surroundings, as they cannot get any credit due to their lack of an American credit history.
The US, credit ratings range between 300 and 850 points, with around 650 being the usual minimum score for a loan of any kind to be approved.
Those who move to the country from abroad however are generally given the lowest possible credit score, or no credit score at all – regardless of what credit rating they would have held in their own countries. This makes the financing of an essential vehicle, for example, or qualifying for a mortgage, very difficult.
Now, a group of Scandinavian expats have set up Lion Leasing, a Florida-based vehicle leasing company specifically aimed at the expat market who wants to buy a car in the U.S.
Jesper Lovendahl, the company’s managing director, said that idea for the company stemmed from their own experiences as expats immigrating to USA. “We had great problems leasing cars when we moved to the US and we heard many stories from people in the expat community who were having difficulties too. Without the credit score – the American financial risk management tool – very few dealers even want to talk to expats.”
“These foreign professionals are mostly very well-educated, have a great job, are legally here to work and make a respectable income, yet they are nothing in the eye of the financial system here. We recently had a British expat working for a major IT company making $ 850,000 a year who could not get approved for credit with the local car dealer’s finance options due to lack of a U.S. credit score. As a newcomer you cannot expect to be approved for credit.”
Lion Leasing has customers from all over the world; England, Germany, Spain, France, Japan, Ireland, India, Brazil, Australia, Scandinavia, Canada, China, South Africa and many more countries. A true international autosource for vehicles in the U.S.
There are no limits to what makes or models the customers can choose to lease or finance, both new and used vehicles. Toyota, Mazda, Honda, Porsche, Volvo, BMW, Nissan, Audi, Mercedes or even Aston Martin and all other vehicles sold in America.
To make it even easier Lion Leasing offers a “personal shopper” service for their customers. Lion Leasing will according to the customer’s directions search, find and negotiate the price for the customer. This ensures that both the price is right and that the vehicle is in good condition if pre-owned.
